Salty Archaeology -
The archaeologist and head of research at the German Mining Museum Bochum, Prof. Dr Thomas Stöllner, reports on the unique finds in the salt mine of Chehrābād, Iran. There, workers found the mummified head of a man in 1993. To date, eight salt mummies have been found there, lying in the salt for up to 2,400 years. In addition to the mummies, the international team discovered other interesting finds. Prof. Dr. Stöllner and the international team draw a picture of the living conditions of miners over 2,000 years ago from the research results.
